How value stream and platform thinking give a different perspective on organization evolution

Raiffeisen Bank Ukraine is on a journey of organizational evolution, creating a more resilient and customer-oriented bank, even before the war. They heavily invest in the platformization of IT services, where the different banking units could use those platforms. It leads to lower operational costs and releases resources for innovation. It also contributed to the organization’s agility.

 

As part of this journey, I delivered a masterclass for the executives and senior managers to explore how value streams and platforms integrate and how value streams can have a more developmental or operational orientation, depending on the organization’s strategy. The masterclass has a holistic view of organizational design, giving insights into all corporate functions. The participants had multiple hands-on exercises, where they could explore the design options and consequences in smaller groups and reflection moments to play back the ideas against their context.
